We are a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit team providing communications services in large scale disasters and to charitable events within the Central Massachusetts area, mostly using amateur radio.
Our primary served agency is the City of Worcester Division of Emergency Management. Additionally, we serve other agencies as needed and requested.
We also assist a variety of local charity organizations upon request with tactical communications during events such as marathons, triathlons, walkathons, or parades.
Our membership has diverse skills in that we are not all of one professional vocation. All of our volunteers operate our radio systems and are able to bring these skills and more to the task of assisting our served agencies when called on.
Our volunteer assistance typically falls into one of a couple categories.
We can perform situation awareness and information gathering throughout Central Massachusetts. Our members live and work throughout the area and can quickly report in on whatever reporting criteria is needed. This information can give a better and quicker understanding of what types of problems are active, where they are, and their severity.
We also support a variety of charitable events such as marathons, triathlons, walkathons, parades and the like with tactical communications. We keep the event coordinators aware of what is happening throughout their event as well as disseminate information and commands.
